Category 7 – Cleft and Craniofacial Services changes for 1 July 2025

This page provides information on access to Medicare benefits for two new radiography items added to Category 7 of the Medicare Benefits Schedule from 1 July 2025.

Page last updated: 30 June 2025

From 1 July 2025, changes to the Health Insurance (Section 3C General Medical Services – Cleft and Craniofacial Services) Determination 2024 will list two new radiography items, improving access to Medicare benefits for people requiring health services for their cleft and craniofacial conditions.

These changes will reduce the inconvenience to patients who currently have to attend on separate occasions to claim benefits for two imaging procedures or incur out-of-pocket charges to receive multiple imaging at the same attendance.

The new items will remove the current duplication of consultation payments by providing a combination of imaging with one consultation at the same attendance.
